where we have posted the material presented at the Institute of Medicine
Conference, Committee on Spinal Cord Injury: Strategies in a Search
for a Cure.
This conference was held September 27-28,
2004 in Washington, DC.
Along with the conference notes, you will
also find, on this site, a list of the speakers, background information;
testimonies from Arachnoiditis sufferers made to the conference; summaries
of conversations held with key people and much other information.
We have also posted a copy of the Medical
and drug information for Depo Medrol by the Pharmacia Company, manufacturer
of this substance, presented at the IOM Conference.
Our "Short on Arachnoiditis"
gives an abbreviated definition of what Arachnoiditis is and what causes
it.
Finally, you will find letters from sufferers
of this horrible disease, detailing how several different people live,
day in and day out, coping with Arachnoiditis.
Our site is dedicated to the hundreds of
thousands of people, without a voice, who suffer daily from this disease,
with no cure in sight. We have dedicated ourselves to the Promotion
of Awareness to the public, so that research might result in finding
a cure. More importantly, we want to STOP the use of myelography, Epidural
Steroid Injections and any other invasive procedure to the spinal cord.
We also want to FORCE full disclosure by doctors and health care professionals
to their patients. No person should be asked to consent to any procedure
without full disclosure of ALL possible side effects.
We hope that by browsing our site, you
will not only learn but be moved to join our fight to promote public
awareness of this awful disease. This is the only hope we have of ever
stopping the spread and Research is our only hope of bringing our lives
and the lives of so many others, of unrelenting pain to an end.
