MOSAIC MAGIC
OF MENSUR POROVIC

Exuberance
of life energy, inexhaustible, mostly in its core, human,
in its being, play and search particular motor activity which
later he forms with spectrum of interests toward which he
tended by inner vocation. With Mensur Porovic all that processes
manifests in personal way. Painter through his inner vocation,
pedagogue through his professional commitment, he uses his
vitality in abundance to create and educate.

He creates
his painting forms, his arts from one side, and on other side
he tends to find a path to pure young soul, which hide in
itself creative potencies, freeing them from starting clumsiness
and enabling for creative act.

His play,
his hobby, he reduces into objects of direct use and exactly
there he is tempting his creative possibilities in mosaic
formulations of play. Basic formulation he found in tables
like an object of use.
Standing
on its table legs with which surface is withstanding, top
is offered for working and creating. Our insights into these
artistic plays started from periphery part, outside border
in elliptic form, made from metal, then he built mosaic ring
where width depends from dimensions given in advance, and
finally he goes into free remaining space and constructs wooden
surface. In that point it starts interlacing of useful and
esthetic, they shine energies which formulating uniqueness
in which useful getting characteristics of esthetic and beautiful,
and mosaic becoming useful.
In giving shape
to wooden table artist announcing his presence, inweave his
energy and his creative potency. Wooden surface is not anymore
just that, it is becoming intersection of substance secret
from which it is built and secret creative act which brought
toward relief of matter secret.

If Porovic's
tables or installation, that little oases of dream, we put
in context of time in which they are created, and if we search
origin of biggest part of material from which his mosaics
are built, and that are pieces of panes which have been destroyed
by demented passed war, then his mosaics got also some particular
historical dimension.

Stylization
and their resuming into different compositions, even circular
formulations (la rondelle), becoming final cadence with which
Mensur Porovic enliven mosaic and imposed it into orbit of
creative interest, even it is believed that he is not able
to express all complexity of modern man, and that he can find
its meaning only in decorative. It is possible that kind of
understanding he based on total truth.
Although, Mensur Poroviæ with his mosaic work, with not excluding
its decorativeness, entered at least partially, inside human
being layer and expressed some truth about him.
