S: And what kind of material you
need to make one of these beautiful tables or decorations for warderobes
and chest of drawers?
D: We use solely veneer of different
thickness. From 0,6 to 0,8mm. Of course veneer is from different
kind of woods. We use walnut, oak, maple, cherrywood, mahogany,
teakwood and other kinds of exotic veneer.
S: Is this all handwork and can
you explain me what is the procedure for manufacturing these decorative
tables?
D: Yes, marquetery which me and
my wife do is handwork, done by assorting of background, choosing
and drawing of figures and decorations. Then we cut motives and
insert decorations done from other kind of veener. After completing
the insertion of motives to surface, we connect all with paper adhesive
tape, and then it is going for pressuring. There we paste it on
hard surface like plywood, chipboard and similar or rarely full
wooden surface. It is done in very hot pressure mashines, under
temperature between 80 to 100C and under high pressure.
After pressure, surface have been abrading to remove tape with which
decorations and motives were joined. After that going back to regular
procedure for built in furniture.
S: Does it take much time for making
marquetery, finishing surface, polish and to make out final product?
D: Hm, fastness of creating one marquetery surface depends much
of complexity of motives - decoration, its size, kind of veener,
because different wood have different structure and flexibility
which can be very breakable.
S: Do you create only stylish decorations
and motives or there are some other too?
D: No, no, motives can vary from very simple geometrical to the
more complicated like natural motives as plants, animals, nature
mort, landscapes and similar.
Every piece is unique if it is some
special order of customers and not some little serial production.
S: That is really good, because everybody
can find piece which satisfy their personal llikes and interests.
And also this varied selection can fit in with any furniture which
we already have at home.
